$5 Per Spin System

As you may guess from the name, this is a system of $5 bets and basically aims to increase the chances of winningFrom our testing, by covering as many outcomes as possible. But it is also a progressive approach, as it requires you to increase the bet amount by more than 10 times in case of a loss. This is a high raise, but it's not something you should do regularly as the chances of winning will increase greatly – at least that's what the system claims. Here, we'll take a closer look at the $5 per spin approach and see how it works (and whether it works).

How $5 Per Spin System Works

In the original source, the algorithm used by the system is explained as follows:

  1. Bet a total of $25 on 30 numbers. The simplest way to do this is to place five line bets worth $5 each (each line bet covers 6 numbers).
  2. If you win, continue without making any changes (with the same bet amount and the same numbers).
  3. If you lose, do not change the betting options, but increase the bet amount to $300. (Simply increase the value of each line bet to $60.)
  4. Determine how long you will continue this cycle based on your own budget.

In the image below, you can see what the bets we used in this example look like.

$5 Per Spin System

Let’s briefly analyze this algorithm. When we do what the system wants, we get the following:

  • If we are playing European roulette, we can cover 30 of 37 outcomes. This means we have an 81% chance of winning.
  • When playing with $25, we can get +$5 profit if one of our bets wins. (If we win while playing with 300, the profit amount increases to +$60.)

The system does not contain any information about how much (or whether) the bet should be increased if we lose twice in a row. This is most likely because the probability of losing twice in a row is as low as 0.81%. In other words, the system does not think that such a low probability will occur and does not offer any solutions for this scenario. However, it is recommended to use the system with a bankroll of $325.

If the bankroll is indeed $325, losing twice in a row will result in losses, and, in most situations, bankruptcy. No matter how low, this probability will happen eventually, so we can say that this is not a useful system for long-term games. However, as we always do, we will test the algorithm with a simulation before making a decision.

$5 Per Spin System Tested

Since the algorithm is quite simple, preparing a simulation will not be difficult. In this simulation we used 5 players and gave each of them a bankroll of $320. We enabled them to complete 1,000 spins using the bet values suggested by the algorithm. The only special rule of the simulation was that any player who lost twice in a row would be out of the game. Because such a scenario brings bankruptcy in most cases, and the algorithm does not contain any information about what to do in this situation. You can see the results in the image below: X axis shows the number of spins and Y axis shows the bankroll status.

So, what does this image tell us? Let's take a closer look at what's happening to the players.

  • Player 1 lost twice in a row on spin 41 and was out. Until this happened, he had managed to increase his bankroll to $595, but after losing twice in a row, his bankroll dropped to $270. So, he left the game with a net loss.
  • Player 2 lost in a row on spin 38. He managed to increase his bankroll to $605 throughout the simulation, but he finished the game with $270, meaning he also suffered a loss.
  • For Player 3, losing twice in a row occurred on spin 26. Once again, he managed to increase his bankroll ($545), but these losses caused him to exit the game with a loss ($220).
  • Player 4 was extremely lucky during the first half of the simulation and increased his bankroll to $775. However, on the 57th spin, he lost twice in a row and finished the game with $450 (+$130 profit).
  • Player 5 completed the simulation almost perfectly: he managed to increase his bankroll to $1,000 throughout the game. However, the losing streak he experienced on the 88th spin caused him to complete the game with $675 (+$355 profit).

There are some interesting dynamics here: we will discuss them in detail below.

Pitfalls of $5 Per Spin System

We stated above that we think this is not a suitable system for long-term game sessions. We revise it as follows: this is a system that can only work if you manage to win more than double the bankroll amount. Because when you do this, even if you lose twice in a row, you won’t fall below your initial bankroll and end the game with a profit, no matter how big or small.

However, if you lose twice in a row before winning more than twice your bankroll, you either suffer a net loss or go bankrupt. In other words, it all depends on when the losses occur: if they occur in the early game (like players 1, 2, and 3) you will most likely lose. If they happen in the late game (like players 4 and 5) you will most likely profit.

And this illustrates the biggest problem with the system: there is no way to know in advance when a losing streak will occur. Of course, it's good that there is a 0.81% chance of this happening, but that doesn't give you any guarantees. In this simulation, players 1, 2, and 3 probably thought it was very unlikely as well, but none of them could complete the first 50 spins perfectly. It is possible to lose for the second time in a row on the second spin, and if this happens, the system will become useless.

Moreover, as always, increasing the chances of winning will not change the game's RTP and house edge values in any way. In the long run, the casino always wins, no matter what system you use. So, with this system, if you continue playing after making a profit, at some point you will lose the entire profit: this is not a probability, but a mathematical certainty. For the same reason, for the $5 per spin system to work, you also need to stop playing as soon as you make a profit. However, this is not a problem specific to this system: in all roulette strategies, you must stop as soon as you have more money than you started with.

Conclusion

This is not a bad system; in fact, we can say that it is one of the best options among those who focus on increasing the chances of winning. It requires you to dramatically increase the bet size, but since you don't have to do this constantly, we can put it in the low-risk category. For the system to work, you must stop playing as soon as you make a profit and be lucky enough not to lose twice in a row until you double your bankroll. If these happen, you get a profit – the amount may not be very high, but you can still leave the game with more money than you started with.

However, keep in mind that the system does not give any guarantees, and everything is determined by when the losing streak will occur. So, it all comes down to how lucky you are. Due to its simplicity and low risk, we recommend this system especially for beginners, but do not forget about the pitfalls we mentioned above.
